Bruce Miller has been hunting practically his whole life, since his father taught him when he was young. So on November 30, he grabbed his rifle and his gear and headed out. It was, Bruce said, “no different than any other day.”
Until it was.
Soon after he set up, Bruce got into some trouble – and faced a life-threatening situation. Luckily, at the other end of his cell phone was Joe Thompson, a 911 dispatcher and member of AFSCME Local 3157. The connection wasn’t great, Bruce was in a remote area and every minute was precious. But thanks to Joe’s quick thinking and cool-under-fire demeanor, emergency crews got to Bruce in time.
Do you know a fellow AFSCME member who shows that same determination to get the job done no matter what? Nominate her or him for a Never Quit Service Award.
