Tentative Agreement Reached! – See Details Here

Dear AFSCME Local 2250 Members,

After months of bargaining with the school board we have reached a tentative agreement. For the first time in more than 10 years the board has finally agreed to an ACROSS THE BOARD INCREASE AND A STEP INCREASE in the same year! We also ELIMINATED LONGEVITY STEPS in the contract, that means no more unfunded steps! A few of the highlights include:

  TENTATIVE AGREEMENT:
Term 4 years: that means 4 years of consistency and stability!
Unfunded steps ELIMINATED OVER 4 YEARS!
Steps Steps in years 1 and 2 with reopeners for the last two years
COLA ·       Year 1: 2% COLA for those in unfunded steps and 1% COLA for those at the top

·       Year 2: 1.5% COLA in ADDITION to step in year two

·       Reopener for year two if Casino referendum passes, reopeners for years 3 and 4

FMLA Extended to employees who work at least 1,000 per year, had to work at least 1,250 before
Overtime ·       OT requests in writing at our request

·       Preserved the use of leave as work time

Training and Education ·       Guarantee that all mandatory training is paid time

·       Expanded professional development training opportunities

Personnel Files New language that gives us the right to access our official file
Compensation for Special Certification ·       Ensured funding for differentials

·       New differential for welders and nurses

·       Maintained compensation for paras and food service employees

Substitution Supervisor must discuss the impact of subbing with paras and clericals and assign priorities for the work to be done and identify work that can be left undone
Uniforms Expanded uniform language to include security, warehouse employees and nurses in addition to food service, building services and central garage

 

The full ACE-AFSCME Local 2250 contract changes are here —> Full Contract Redline Version  and will be available at the Ratification Information Meeting that will be held at 6pm on June 21 at the Prince George’s Ballroom located at 2411 Pinebrook Ave, Landover, MD 20785. Members will have an opportunity to hear about specific highlights for each chapter and ask questions of the team. This year we will be using a new electronic voting system through an independent company called “eBallot,” which has helped other unions with contract ratification votes. ACE-AFSCME Local 2250 members will be able vote online and/or by phone. Either way, members will have to retrieve their unique voter ID number and password from the email that eBallot will send to all members with instructions to their PGCPS email address. Members will be able to vote from 8:00am June 25 to 7:00pm on June 27.
