Tammi Spence comes to local 2250 from AFSCME Council 3 in Baltimore. Tammi started working with unions as an employee at St. Joseph hospital in Baltimore in 1992. She started out as a shop steward, moved to chief shop steward and became a member of the bargaining team that won her department a closed shop. As a result, she became more interested in working with unions and continued to follow the words of her father, a postal worker and member of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU), “If you get a job and it has a union… get in it.” To this day, she follows that rule. Based on her experiences as an employee at St. Joseph’s and as a union staff member, Tammi strongly believes that everyone is entitled to be treated fairly in the work place.
