It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Faith Jones, former President of ACE-AFSCME Local 2250.

President Jones was hired by PGCPS as a truck driver in our maintenance chapter in 1983. He was elected to the Union Executive Board in 1997. He continued working in maintenance until his election as Local 2250 President in 2000.

He served as President for 11 years. During this time, he worked on many committees and helped strengthen our collective bargaining agreement throughout multiple negotiations with PGCPS.

He knew the importance of political work, and spent time in Annapolis every year talking to elected officials and providing testimony on legislation that would impact our members. He also made sure that members knew which candidates the Union endorsed and encouraged them to go out and vote.

Known for his fried fish, President Jones organized an annual picnic for members to enjoy food and fellowship together. He also started an awards program to honor the work our members do.

President Jones remained active in the Union even after his retirement, including serving as the President of the ACE-AFSCME Local 2250 Retiree's Chapter.

He was both strong and kind, loving and stern. He was a dedicated Union leader who put our members first. He was loved and respected by our members and by PGCPS labor relations alike.

President Jones gave so much of himself to Local 2250, and our Union is stronger because of his leadership. We will remember him not only for everything he accomplished, but for the friendships he built, the members he fought for, and the many lives he touched along the way.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
